Diet Coke versus Marijuana

I have heard that marijuana gives you the munchies. Not that I would know; I only smoked it for a brief period of time during my teenage years and I always had the munchies back then. However, after drinking Diet Coke I get really hungry. I wonder what chemistry is involved that makes me so hungry after drinking that stuff. Maybe they should call it Break Your Diet Coke. You can probably think of a better name. But if you have experience with both Diet Coke and marijuana, which do you think is most likely to ruin your figure? Maybe we should legalize marijuana and outlaw Diet Coke.

Heh. How about that. I come here checking to see if there is any new mumbo-jumbo and find something entirely non-disagreeable.

I have experience with both diet coke and pot, and don't think you can really blame either for your figure, or lack thereof. I found that pretty much everything I was taught about drugs as a kid was either a lie, misinformation, wishful thinking, or oversimplification.

Pot and munchies fits more or less into the last two (in my experience, milage varies). Culture and confirmation bias probably plays a much bigger role than THC itself. By that I mean, if you aren't hungry and smoke some pot, you probably won't become hungry. You might enjoy food a good deal more if you were hungry. If you're a hungry cancer patient, the anti-nausea ability of weed is probably a lot more noticeable as well.

Diet Coke doesn't make me hungry. The only time I ever choose diet coke (I mostly drink water) it's for one reason - caffeine. Diet coke has like 2x the amount as most any other (can of) soda save for mountain dew. It's almost like drinking 1/2 a cup of coffee.

Anyway, I can't think of a more clever name for diet coke. I CAN however, think of the perfect counter to a ruined figure from diet coke. The Coke Diet! By which I mean cocaine, of course. Doubly fitting since it was originally IN coke. And I suspect upstanding folks possibly like yourself who only ever nibbled at the lighter bits of the dark side would naturally be angelically innocent of any knowledge of cocaine. So take it from me, it's an appetite suppressant. Manage to find some good stuff, you'll barely be able to swallow your beer, let alone want to eat anything! And that's if your friends get you to ever shut up.

Thanks for stopping by debaser. I'm sure I'll come up with something that you'll find disagreeable soon. After all, there's no point having a blog if it isn't controversial.

Even if this is the only point we ever agree upon, and we never see eye to eye biology, it makes me glad to see that we can agree on this. It doesn't matter if you smoke pot or not. You can still see (correct me if i'm wrong) what a giant waste of time and money and resources pot being illegal is.
I can think of few things less scary than someone who's been smoking pot all day coming down the street towards me, but we spend craploads of money fighting against something that makes most people mellow and a little weird.
So, the police waste their time, and I gotta waste my time cause of all flaky pot dealers, since I can't buy it at a store. And if people really wanted to keep it out of the hands of little shithead 15 year olds (which I do) the only way to really make that happen is to make it require a state ID to buy it.

I am definitely for the decriminalization of the use and sale of marijuana. Actually I lean toward the decriminalization of all recreational drug use as long as people are held completely liable for their actions while under the influence. However, I certainly wouldn’t endorse drug use and I am not confident total decriminalization is a good idea. Here in the United States I think the federal government should let the states make their own laws regarding drug use. This way states can try different approaches and we can see which of them work best.
